It was a beautiful late December morning, arrived at Melbourne Airport at 6:00 am in the morning from Brunei, most of the counters like Information, tour desk, bus information center were closed. So just walked out of the airport and did not have any difficulty to find the SkyBus. Bought a return trip for A $ 30 and got in the bus with no wait at the bus stop. Had to buy the ticket from the ticketing counter right next to the bus stop.

Did not take that long to reach my hotel from the Airport via Southern Cross Station (Spencer Street) where I was transferred to a complementary hotel transfer service (much smaller bus). I really liked the location of this hotel called Citigate Melbourne but got little confused when skybus Hotel Transfer service dropped me off in front of the hotel as the sign was saying DoubleTree by Hilton. Later came to know they have changed the name and going through a transition. so from now on I will call them as DoubleTree.

Narrow room but the bed was comfortable!

Did not have any problem checking in so early in the morning (7:30 am instead of 2:00 PM). Hotel staffs were helpful and friendly. They were going through a major renovation at downstairs lobby area so not much fun there. The room was nice, clean and modern but bad thing about my room was that there was a window but a fake one, so I was having a feeling that I have no contact with the outside world. For me room with a window is a must so in one sense that helped me to spend more time outside sightseeing.

Bathroom was clean and the bed was very much white and comfortable, the amenities were in good quality. Over all I give them a 8 out of 10, rate was reasonable and breakfast was included that was a plus as well. Breakfast was much much better than what I expected. Location wise I give them 10 out of 10. One block away from the Yarra River, tram stop is in front of the hotel and the Flinders Street Station is across the street. Tourist information station is right around the corner. It really did workout for me very well.
