If you are in Ao Nang or traveling near the Krabi area, then Phra Nang Cave Beach could be a perfect beach for day-trippers. It’s not that far away from Krabi town either. Long Tail boats are available throughout the day from Ao Nang, Krabi town, or from Ao Nam Mao pier, which will cost you not more than 100 Bath when weather conditions are favorable. I have traveled in both good and bad weather conditions. But it is good to know that the rough sea can sometimes make it challenging to get there with a longtail boat.

How To Get There

When you arrive here from Ao Nang Pier, the Loan Tail Boat will drop you at Railay Bay West, Railay Bay beach is also lovely. Still, it’s a little crowded, so to get to Phranang Beach, you need to go to another side of the bay called Railay Bay East and then go through the Phranang cave area towards the lagoon. If you follow the sign, you won’t miss it.

If your departure is from Ao Nam Mao or Krabi town, then Long Tail Boat arrives at Railay Bay East, and then you need to follow the sign to get to this beautiful white sandy beach. Due to its location, this beach is less crowded and very much private; you will definitely enjoy it over here.

Since we were staying in Railay Bay Spa and Resort, on the other side of the Bay (Railay Bay West), it was a daily visit without any hassle. I enjoyed the spectacular scenery of Sunrise and Sunset from here. However, we realized that we spent most of our leisure time enjoying the clean beach of Phranang—posting a few pictures here.

Hiking to the Railay Viewpoint

The trail to the Railay viewpoint is a challenging and adventurous trek, which requires some levels for climbing. But once you are up there, you will be rewarded with a beautiful panoramic view of emerald-green seawater and longtail boats in East and West Railay Beach.

Rock Climbing

As you trek to this beautiful beach, you can see several rock climbers test their skills on the steep cliffs Railay has to offer as well as mischievous monkeys swinging through the trees looking for a snack left behind by a tourist. The reason we recommend coming here early is that at about 9 AM, all the tourist boats from other islands dock here and it becomes extremely crowded.

A Few Photos That Tell The Story

Where Did I Stay In Railay Bay, Krabi

If you decide to stay in Railay bay, I recommend getting a hotel on the Railay Bay Westside instead of the East, even though there are hotels on both ends. It’s much cleaner and more lively in the west bay with many activities.

Railay Bay Resort & Spa is located at Railay Beach West with a beautiful view of the Sea. There are a few Swimming Pools and restaurants with a great view.

Railay Princess Resort & Spa, Railay Beach East, Krabi

I loved staying in Railay Princess Resort & Spa right on the Railay Beach Eest. The clean and spacious rooms with one queen size bed were beautiful. The breakfast was excellent.
