After 3 hours of trekking through different tribal Hmong villages in Vietnam like Y Linh Ho, Lao Chai, Cat Cat Village, and Ta Van, we were little drained out, so stopped by a local restaurant for much-needed ice-cold Ha Noi beer.

Heading To The Village

In the meantime, La (our guide) got a phone call from her friend who was getting married and invited us all to her wedding party. I spent no time saying yes considering this as once in a lifetime experience.

The team started heading towards her home in the village nearby. We had to cross a few rice fields and climb up terrace steps and finally reached a small house.

Attending a Black Hmong’s Wedding

We were gladly welcomed inside and greeted with Happy water (homemade wine from rice, H’mong specialty). It is considered rude in their culture to refuse a drink when it is offered so had to take a few shots with no exception.

All the invited guest and family members were very friendly and happy to pose for a photo opportunity.

A great experience was so happy to be able to participate in an environment like that. The highlight of the day was when I saw a group of tribe men smoking a huge bamboo pipe in the party.

Meeting a Few Beautiful and Friendly People

There was no shortage of smiley faces, offerings, and courtesy for the visiting guests.

The winding road was going through the villages and different neighborhoods. While passing through a local market and bought a bunch of sugar cane to try it and also to support the locals.
